PCI Express 5.0 EDSFF Interposers for SSD Protocol Testing
05 January 2022 - Teledyne LeCroy announced PCI Express 5.0 EDSFF interposers for analysis of Enterprise & Datacenter Small Form Factor (EDSFF) E1.S, E1.L, E3.x type solid-state drives (SSDs) and devices. These EDSFF interposers work in combination with the Summit family of PCI Express 5.0 protocol analyzers to test product designs that utilizes the PCIe 5.0, NVM Express (NVMe) and Compute Express Link (CXL) protocol technologies with data rates up to 32 GT/s and link widths up to x16. The PCIe 5.0 EDSFF interposers include Teledyne LeCroy's CrossSync PHY technology, enabling users to debug enhanced power management and link training equalization, through correlated and time aligned physical and protocol layer views.
DSO with 100 MHz Bandwidth and 4 analog Channels
09 December 2021 - B&K Precision announced the addition of their latest entry-level oscilloscope. The 2194 provides the advantage of a high bandwidth oscilloscope bundled with the latest features at a low price point. This model delivers 100 MHz bandwidth in a four-channel configuration with a maximum sampling rate of 1GSa/s and a maximum memory depth of 14 Mpts.
Protocol Analysis on PCI Express CEM Form Factor
02 December 2021 – Teledyne LeCroy announced the extension of their patented CrossSync PHY technology to support the PCI Express 5.0 Card Electromechanical (CEM) specification. This new CEM interposer (PE230UIA-X) joins the existing CrossSync PHY enabled M.2 form factor interposers (PE210UIA for PCIe 4.0 and the PE222UIA for PCIe 5.0), with more form factors in development to fill out the portfolio of cross-layer probing.
Test of Advanced Infotainment and Driver Assistance Systems
29 November 2021 - Keysight Technologies announced new automotive serializer/deserializer (SerDes) transmit and channel test applications, as well as an automotive adapter portfolio to verify mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) A-PHY and Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA) standards. These solutions were developed in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation and Rosenberger.
5GHz Oscilloscope with Dual Screen
26 November 2021 - Rigol launched the dual screen DS70000 Ultra Vision III oscilloscope featuring 20 GSa/s based on a new capture chipset. The DS70000 Series is part of the StationMax program and uses the new Phoenix ASIC platform to achive higher sample rate, increased memory depth, faster waveform capture rate and better vertical resolution. The new Phoenix chipset was developed in-house and forms the analog front-end.
Long Time Data Acquisition with up to 20 MS/s
19 November 2021 - Yokogawa Test & Measurement added new features to its DL950 ScopeCorder. The latest Yokogawa ScopeCorder now offers flash acquisition as well as new real time computing functions, further improving data acquisition capabilities and adding firmware updatable features. Using the new Flash Acquisition function, data can be captured over a long time with a high-speed sample rate of 20 MS/s (8CH) and 10 MS/s (16CH), which is 100 times faster than the previous model.
I3C Serial Decoder for PicoScope Oscilloscopes
18 November 2021 - Pico Technology added another protocol to both PicoScope 6 (Stable) and PicoScope 7 (Early Access) implementations: MIPI I3C Basic specification waveforms can now be decoded, displayed and analyzed on any PicoScope with sufficient bandwidth and memory depth. I3C is a medium-speed control and data bus interface for connecting peripherals to an application processor in embedded systems and a range of mobile, Internet of Things (IoT) and automotive applications.

A Comparison between Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analyzers
Whether it is for a land survey searching for minerals on Earth, or for a space exploration in search of alien life forms, the analysis of any signal boils down to looking at its time and frequency information. While an oscilloscope displays a signal with respect to time, a spectrum analyzer shows it with respect to frequency. Both of these tools are very important in any signal analysis application. This article explains the difference between oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer using examples.
