Additional Power Probe Channels for Oscilloscopes
20 March 2017 - Rohde & Schwarz introduced the R&S RT-ZVC02/04 multichannel power probe. The R&S RT-ZVC02 power probe offers two current and two voltage channels, the R&S RT-ZVC04 four current and four voltage channels in addition to the analog oscilloscope channels. Up to two R&S RT-ZVC02/04 probes can be connected to an R&S RTE or R&S RTO oscilloscope for up to 16 additional test channels. This allows automatic testing of even critical power-up sequences on CPU mainboards and FPGA circuits.
Entry-level Oscilloscope with 10-bit vertical Resolution and 10.1" Touchscreen
16 March 2017 -- Rohde & Schwarz broadens its oscilloscope portfolio with the new R&S RTB2000 low cost oscilloscope. Starting at just EUR 1,250, it features touchscreen operation, 10-bit vertical resolution and 10 Msample acquisition memory on each oscilloscope channel and delivers functionality previously only available in substantially higher priced oscilloscopes.
GW Instek launched new Mixed-Signal Oscilloscope
15 March 2017 - The new mixed-signal oscilloscope MSO-2000 is based on the software and hardware platforms of the GDS-2000E, which features a waveform update rate of 120,000 wfm/s and 10M memory depth per channel. The series includes MSO-2000E and MSO-2000EA. MSO-2000E has a built-in 16-channel logic analyzer and MSO-2000EA has a built-in 16-channel logic analyzer and a dual channel 25MHz arbitrary waveform generator.
USB Oscilloscope offers four true differential Channels
13 March 2017 - Pico Technology introduced the PicoScope 4444 high-resolution differential oscilloscope. This instrument features four true differential input channels and a range of accessories for measurements from millivolt to 1000 V CAT III applications. The new PicoScope addresses the perennial problem of making accurate voltage waveform measurements on circuit elements that are not ground-referenced, without the risk of short circuits that could damage the device under test or the measuring instrument.
Ultra-Low Cost 50 to 100 MHz Oscilloscope Series
02 March 2017 – Keysight Technologies announced the InfiniiVision 1000 X-Series oscilloscopes. This new low-cost oscilloscope series, with a starting price below €450 (EUR), has 50 to 100 MHz models that feature unique, Keysight-custom technology. The oscilloscopes deliver professional-level functionality with industry-leading software analysis and 6-in-1 instrument integration.
Free CAN FD decoding for PicoScope Oscilloscopes
27 February 2017 - Pico Technology added CAN FD decoding to its PicoScope 6 software. This software, available free of charge for all PicoScope oscilloscopes, delivers advanced features such as serial decoding, channel math, mask limit testing and spectrum analysis, while maintaining a clear, uncluttered display with easy-to-use controls.
PXIe Oscilloscopes with up to 1 GHz Bandwidth
23 February 2017 – Keysight Technologies announced ten new PXIe instruments, including a new arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) that includes three highly synchronized channels for precise tuning of IQ waveforms and envelope tracking, as well as the industry’s first full-featured PXI oscilloscope. The AWG and oscilloscopes provide up to 1 GHz bandwidth to support complex baseband IQ signal generation and analysis for evaluating emerging 5G and aerospace & defense wideband technologies.

A Comparison between Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analyzers
Whether it is for a land survey searching for minerals on Earth, or for a space exploration in search of alien life forms, the analysis of any signal boils down to looking at its time and frequency information. While an oscilloscope displays a signal with respect to time, a spectrum analyzer shows it with respect to frequency. Both of these tools are very important in any signal analysis application. This article explains the difference between oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer using examples.

Precision Phase Noise Measurement with an Oscilloscope - Part 1
Often clock jitter induced from the power supply noise, signal routings, or other signals severely degrade the performance of the system. Clock generation and distribution in a FPGA for a high speed analog application is particularly prone to these issues. They manifest themselves in phase noise or clock jitter, which is the random variation of the period of a signal over time. Clearly, optimization of the design requires verification of the integrity of such clocks.
