Oscilloscope News

Owon TabOsci28 January 2022 - Owon introduced the TAO3000 Series 2/4 channel 8/14bit Tablet Oscilloscopes - handy portable scopes that are especially suited for field use. They offer 70, 100, or 120MHz bandwidth and a 1GSa/s signal sampling rate, with a built-in 4 1/2 digit multimeter in the 2-channel models. A huge 40MSa record length allows for deep investigation into glitches and other small signals. An internal built-in 8000mAh high-capacity battery allows for continuous operation of up to 5 hours.

The 8” multi-point capacitive touchscreen makes for quick and easy parameter adjustment, with SCPI and LabVIEW support allowing external control. The front panel also has conventional knobs and function buttons for direct control of the instrument, and with its pull-out feet it can also become a very useful compact benchtop oscilloscope taking up minimal space.

There are ten models in the TAO3000 series with either standard 8-bit resolution or precise 14-bit resolution, which is necessary for seeing fine detail in signals being examined. The oscilloscopes provide 39 automatic signal measurements, including: Period, Frequency, Mean, PK-PK, RMS, Max, Min, Top, Base, Amplitude, Overshoot, Preshoot, Rise Time, Fall Time, +PulseWidth, -PulseWidth, +Duty Cycle, -Duty Cycle, Screen Duty, FRR, FRF, FFR, FFF, LRR, LRF, LFR, LFF, Delay A→B , Delay A→B , Cycle RMS, Cursor RMS, Phase A→B , Phase A→B , +PulseCount, -PulseCount, RiseEdgeCnt, FallEdgeCnt, Area, and Cycle Area. The Autoscale function enables the instrument to automatically set trigger mode, voltage scale, and horizontal time display according to the input signal characteristics. Multiple advanced triggers and bus decoding protocols are also provided.

The oscilloscope supports communications with a PC through USB, a LAN port, and also via optional Wi-Fi. The oscilloscope communication software provided allows users to store, analyze, and display the data, as well as for remote operation of the instrument. The oscilloscope series also supports communications with an Android-based smart device via Wi-Fi for viewing the waveform synchronously or for controlling or adjusting the instrument.

This compact (10.63” x 7.52” x 1.9”; 3.75lb) portable scope is ideal for field work where line power is not available, or as part of a traveling toolkit for troubleshooting on location away from the lab. Manufactured by specialist test equipment manufacturer Owon, the TAO3000 Series of Tablet Oscilloscopes are available now e.g. from Saelig.
