Oscilloscope News

TiePie Handyscope HS6 DIFF22 March 2017 - TiePie engineering introduced the Handyscope HS6 DIFF, a USB 3.0 four channel high resolution oscilloscope with differential inputs is available in models with 50 MS/s up to 1 GS/s sampling rate. The Handyscope HS6 DIFF features TiePie engineering's unique SafeGround technology, differential inputs that can safely be switched to single ended.

The advantage of differential inputs is that there are no connections between the channels and the ground of the computer. That makes it impossible to create a short circuit. A single ended input can be used together with a standard 1:10 oscilloscope probe but a short circuit is simply made. A short circuit can damage your measuring instrument, your computer and the device you measuring on. That can result in high cost.

This problem is now solved by the Handyscope HS6 DIFF SafeGround option. SafeGround allows you to use the oscilloscope inputs both as single ended and as differential. When SafeGround is active and you accidentally create a wrong connection that causes a short circuit, SafeGround will disconnect the ground of the input channel without damaging the oscilloscope or PC. You can therefore simply switch from a differential input to a single ended input without worrying if anything will damage because of a short circuit current. The Handyscope HS6-DIFF is the only oscilloscope in the world with this unique SafeGround protection.

Also unique to TiePie engineering is the standard CMI interface on the Handyscope HS6 DIFF.

It allows to connect more Handyscope HS6-DIFFs together to create an instrument with multiple measuring channels with the same sample frequency (0 ppm deviation!). The user can easy expand the number of channels without changing software, difficult software settings or buying expensive hardware. (CMI = Combining multiple instruments.)

The Handyscope HS6 DIFF features a USB 3.0 interface with 5Gb/s data transfer. It offers a fast data transport of 200 MSamples per second USB streaming Data logger. There are no other USB instruments that can stream faster.

Some other special points of the Handyscope HS6 DIFF are

  • 1GS/s sampling and flexible resolution of 8-16 bit.
  • Four input channels with up to 250 MHz analog bandwidth
  • Highly accurate 1 ppm time base
  • DC Accuracy of 0.25 % and 0.1 % typical
  • Very fast 200 MSamples per second USB streaming Data logger
  • Up to 256 MSamples memory per channel
  • SureConnect connection test on all channels
  • Spectrum analyzer with 32 million bins
