Low-Profile Rackmount Oscilloscope
23 November 2017 – Tektronix announced the 5 Series MSO Low Profile oscilloscope for automated test (ATE) applications. Building on the success of the 5 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscopes and innovations like FlexChannel technology and 12-bit ADCs (analog to digital converters), the new low profile instrument offers a best in class combination of channel density, performance and low-cost per channel at 1 GHz bandwidth that allows researchers and scientists to gather more accurate data and gain deeper insights while reducing test equipment space requirements.
Portable 15 and 25 GHz Sampling Oscilloscopes
22 November 2017 - Pico Technology has added three 15 GHz models and a further 25 GHz model to its portable and low-cost PicoScope 9300 Series of Sampling Oscilloscopes. The new 15 GHz models replace the preceding 9200 Series 12 GHz models, with significantly upgraded specifications at even lower prices, with the result that all Pico Sampling Oscilloscopes now operate under the PicoSample 3 software. These instruments combine Pico’s uniquely cost-effective sampling technology with the convenience of USB and LAN control ports.
Low Speed 24 Bit Channel Extension for Oscilloscopes
20 November 2017 - Teledyne LeCroy launched 24-Bit sensor acquisition extension modules for its oscilloscopes. The SAM40 provides up to 24 input channels for low frequency (sensor signal) acquisition and analysis. It connects to a 4 or 8 channel Teledyne LeCroy 12-bit resolution high definition oscilloscope (HD4096 HDOs and MDAs) to provide Analog+Digital+Sensor (up to 8+16+24 channel) acquisitions. This capability is ideal for system debug and analysis of deeply embedded, electromechanical, and mechatronic designs.
New Power Analysis and Serial Trigger/Decode Options
15 November 2017 – Tektronix released new options for the 5 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope including a power analysis solution, Automotive Ethernet testing solution, and serial trigger and decode solutions for the aerospace and automotive markets. These new solutions take full advantage of key 5 Series MSO innovations including up to 8 input channels, 12-bit resolution and its massive high-definition capacitive touch display and highly intuitive Direct Access user interface.
Cost effective EMI Compliance Test Set
02 November 2017 - TiePie engineering introduced the Handyscope HS6 DIFF - 1000XMESG EMI analyzer. The Handyscope EMI analyzer gives the user the possibility to quickly perform a EMI compliance test. With this cost effective test, time and money are saved by avoiding extra visits to expensive EMC testing facilities. The supplied EMI probe set TP-EMI-HS6 contains three magnetic field (H field) probes and one electric field (E field) probe. The tripod ensures that the probes can be positioned properly at the object under test.
CXPI Automotive Serial Bus Analysis
26 October 2017 - Yokogawa adds CXPI automotive serial bus analysis to the range of options available on the company’s DLM2000 and DLM4000 Series mixed signal oscilloscopes. CXPI (Clock Extension Peripheral Interface) is a new automotive serial bus interface that is designed to provide an optimised solution in applications previously served by the established CAN and LIN bus systems, which until now have been the main interfaces used for in-vehicle communications.
2-Channel Benchtop Oscilloscopes with a protective Earth
16 October 2017 - Chauvin Arnoux launched new 2-channel benchtop oscilloscopes. The simple-to-use METRIX DOX 2000B oscilloscopes offer numerous acquisition and analysis functions, as well as multiple communication interfaces. Designed for use in the lab, the DOX 2000B models nevertheless remain compact, transportable and simple to use.

Oscilloscope Probes – Vital Link in the Measurement Chain
Signal measurement results can only be as accurate as the test and measurement tools in use. As clock rates and edge speeds of today’s electronic circuits increase, probing becomes a critical piece of the measurement system – the component that comes in direct contact with your circuit. This article looks at voltage probing considerations for embedded system and digital design debugging applications.

Oscilloscope History and Milestones
Oscilloscopes have been invented in the 1920s. Up to now this instrument encountered many innovations. In the beginning the most important manufacturers have been General Radio, DuMont, General Electric and Radio Corporation of America. Later Cossor and later Solartron dominated the market. Today the main players are Keysight, Tektronix and Teledyne LeCroy. Below we listed some important oscilloscope milestones.
