Consistent Graphical Interface simplifies Data Management and Analysis
16 March 2021 - Keysight Technologies launched a portfolio of Smart Bench Essentials (SBE) lab bench products that deliver the power of four unique instruments, including a triple-output power supply, an arbitrary function generator, a digital multimeter and an oscilloscope, through one powerful graphical interface offering integrated data management and analysis capabilities.
Two-channel 5 GHz and 16 GHz Sampling Oscilloscopes
08 March 2021 - Pico Technology has added the PicoScope 9402-05 and 9402-16 two-channel models to their 5 GHz and 16 GHz SXRTOs. The new models join the 9404-05 and 9404-16 four-channel models launched last year. Ideally suited to repetitive or clock-derived signals, all models feature high-resolution 12-bit channels, each supported by real-time sampling to 500 MS/s per channel and up to 2.5 TS/s (0.4 ps) random equivalent-time sampling. These are voltage and timing resolutions that match or more typically exceed the best available amongst broadband real-time oscilloscopes today.
Analyze PCI Express across Physical and Protocol Layers
08 March 2021 – Teledyne LeCroy introduced the CrossSync PHY interposers and software options, enabling the first-ever link between an oscilloscope and a protocol analyzer to allow engineers to get a complete picture when testing the PCI Express (PCIe) interface standard. When testing and debugging PCIe, engineers use protocol analyzers to view protocol messages between components over a relatively long period of time. Engineers also need to use oscilloscopes to measure PCIe electrical performance at the physical layer with a high degree of resolution.
Collection of Measurement Data from multiple Instruments
03 March 2021 - Yokogawa Test & Measurement released the IS8000 integrated measurement software platform for the control of and the collection of data and generation of reports from multiple measuring instruments. The IS8000 software combines the functions of software that had previously been provided for individual measuring instruments and is able to provide total support for all measurement tasks, from the connection of instruments to the creation of reports, thus helping to improve product development efficiency.
PCI Express 5.0 Transceiver and Reference Clock Test Solution
01 March 2021 - Tektronix developed in collaboration with Anritsu a new PCI EXPRESS 5.0 transceiver (Base and CEM) and reference clock solution, becoming the first company to offer early CEM fixtures for pre-compliance testing. The collaboration between Tektronix and Anritsu enables industry-leading receiver verification, complementing a world-class transmitter and reference clock test suite.
Modular Oscilloscopes for Rack Integration
18 February 2021 - Rigol Technologies presented the new DS8000-R series oscilloscopes integrated in a faceless module intended for rack integration. Occupying half a rack in width and 1U in height these modular oscilloscopes are equipped with four analog inputs and cover a frequency range of up to 2 GHz. DS8000-R series digital oscilloscope is a compact mid-to-high-end digital oscilloscope based on RIGOL's UltraVision II platform. With a compact design, DS8000-R supports multi-machine system integration, suitable for rack installation.
Combination of Oscilloscope and Datalogger
16 February 2021 - Yokogawa Test & Measurement Corporation announced the DL950 ScopeCorder, a high-precision data acquisition system. The DL950 is the successor to the DL850 and DL850V ScopeCorder series that were released in 2010, and features a number of enhancements that improve both functionality and operability. In addition, two new input modules are being released for the DL950; these are the 720212, which is capable of reading data at 200 mega-samples per second (MS/s), and the 720256, which can read data from four input channels at 10 MS/s. By the fall of this year, Yokogawa will also release an optional flash acquisition function for the storage of high-sampling-rate data in embedded non-volatile memory.

Oscilloscope Probes – Vital Link in the Measurement Chain
Signal measurement results can only be as accurate as the test and measurement tools in use. As clock rates and edge speeds of today’s electronic circuits increase, probing becomes a critical piece of the measurement system – the component that comes in direct contact with your circuit. This article looks at voltage probing considerations for embedded system and digital design debugging applications.

Digital Debugging - better using a Mixed-Signal-Oscilloscope or a Logic Analyzer?
Today’s technology is fundamentally balanced on an increasingly fine line between the analogue and digital domains; as data speeds increase — both within and between devices — the ‘ideal world’ of fast, clean digital transitions becomes evermore difficult to achieve. This presents new and escalating challenges when verifying faster digital signals that exhibit more and more analogue-like features. As a result it is becoming necessary to remove the hard line between digital and analogue.
