8 GHz MSO with 25 GS/s simultaneous Sample Rate on all 4 Channels
17 July 2018 – Tektronix introduced the 6 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope. The new oscilloscope extends the performance threshold of midrange oscilloscopes to 8 GHz and delivers a 25 GS/s sample rate simultaneously on all 4 channels – an industry first for this class of oscilloscope – to accommodate the needs of designers working on faster, more complex embedded systems designs.
Real-time Oscilloscope with 110 GHz Bandwidth
16 July 2018 - Keysight Technologies announced the new Infiniium UXR series, the only oscilloscopes to support terabit research with real-time bandwidth up to 110 GHz industry-leading sample rate (256 GSa/s) and signal integrity (lowest noise and jitter). As the demand for faster and more data continues to surge, digital speeds increase and consequently, margins decrease. Test equipment has struggled to keep up with the cutting-edge researchers that are racing to the next technology breakthrough.
RIGOL launched new Digital Oscilloscope Series
18 June 2018 - RIGOL Technologies announced an addition to its oscilloscope portfolio with the introduction of the new mid-range 7000 Series Digital Oscilloscope. With 10GSa/sec Sample rate and up to 500M Record Length the 7000 Series can deliver 20X Oversampling on a 500MHz signal providing unmatched signal resolution while still capturing a full 50 ms; significantly longer than available in competitive products.
Keysight launched new USB Measurement Platform
13 June 2018 – Keysight Technologies announced a new measurement platform that ensures consistent, repeatable results across all phases of design. The new Keysight Streamline Series is comprised of compact USB instruments: vector network analyzers (VNAs), oscilloscopes and an arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) that leverage Keysight technologies, measurement algorithms, and application software.
Rohde & Schwarz enters High-Performance Oscilloscope Market
12 June 2018 - Rohde & Schwarz expanding its oscilloscope portfolio with the new high-performance R&S RTP family. The R&S RTP combines various instruments better than any other oscilloscope in its class. All these features make the R&S RTP the oscilloscope of choice for debugging, e.g. embedded components with fast digital or wideband RF interfaces. The R&S RTP is now available from Rohde & Schwarz as a 4 GHz, 6 GHz or 8 GHz model.
PCI Express Test Solution supports Oscilloscopes of 3 Vendors
08 June 2018 – Anritsu launched a PCIe test and compliance test solution which was developed in collaboration with Granite River Labs (GRL) and Teledyne LeCroy. The test solution supports both PCI Express transmitter and receiver tests using automation software for the MP1900A. It also enables connection of customers’ oscilloscopes with the MP1900A by supporting real-time oscilloscopes from the three main manufacturers, permitting automation of complex receiver tests required for evaluating devices in accordance with the PCI Express standards.
USB Oscilloscopes with flexible Resolution up to 16 Bit
04 June 2018 - Pico Technology introduced the PicoScope 5000D Series FlexRes oscilloscopes and MSOs that feature up to 16 bits of vertical resolution with up to 200 MHz bandwidth and 1 GS/s sampling speed. FlexRes hardware employs multiple high-resolution ADCs at the input channels in different time-interleaved and parallel combinations to optimize either the sampling rate to 1 GS/s at 8 bits, the resolution to 16 bits at 62.5 MS/s, or other combinations in between.

Digitizer and Oscilloscope - Equal Alternatives?
Can a digitizer be used as an oscilloscope? What is the difference between an oscilloscope and a digitizer? Should I better use a digitizer or an oscilloscope in my next application? These are interesting questions and the best way to start to answer these is the look up the dictionary definition of an oscilloscope: "An electronic instrument used to measure changing electric voltages. It displays the waveforms of electric oscillations on a screen."

Digital Debugging - better using a Mixed-Signal-Oscilloscope or a Logic Analyzer?
Today’s technology is fundamentally balanced on an increasingly fine line between the analogue and digital domains; as data speeds increase — both within and between devices — the ‘ideal world’ of fast, clean digital transitions becomes evermore difficult to achieve. This presents new and escalating challenges when verifying faster digital signals that exhibit more and more analogue-like features. As a result it is becoming necessary to remove the hard line between digital and analogue.
